About the Walks
Rambles are arranged for most Sundays throughout the year. They are usually led by members who have previously walked out and devised a suitable route, which will vary in distance from about 7 - 10 miles.
Rambles are held throughout Kent and the neighbouring Home Counties.
In view of the lack of public transport on Sundays, most walks require members to get to the start by private cars, although occasionally walks will be organised starting from a convenient station.
If wish to join a Sunday walk,
please telephone or email a day or so in advance
so that the leader can be on the look out for you. Bring suitable boots or shoes. Walks will be on footpaths and tracks, which can often be muddy at any time of year.
Lunch
On full day walks, we normally stop for lunch at or near a pub unless otherwise stated. Not all pubs will provide a snack at lunch time, so it is best to bring some food with you. However, this must not be eaten in the pub.
The lunch stop will generally be about 40 / 45 minutes. Time for a snack but not a full meal.
Hot Lunch walk - indicates
that the leader has arranged to stop at a cafe or other place where it will be
possible to purchase a hot meal. On these rare occasions the lunch stop is
likely to be longer.
Figure of Eight Walks
Figure of 8 walks mean that we return to the start at lunch time and then have a short afternoon walk from the same place. You may therefore leave us at lunch time if you so wish.
Car Share.
Occasionally we are able to arrange car sharing for established members.
